Colt Service Model Ace .22 LR - W.B. Inspected Serial Number SM 2966

Colt Service Model Ace Serial Number SM2966 - WWII issue, W.B. inspector's mark for Col. Waldemar S. Broberg, Army Inspector of Ordnance from July 1, 1941 to June 16, 1942 at the Hartford/Springfield Ordnance District.  The slide of this gun is numbered 2906.  Both Service Model Ace pistols SM 2966 and SM 2906 were shipped to Springfield Armory 2-16-42 in a shipment of 53 guns.

Major component parts of the Service Model Ace.  Left side pictured with two-tone magazine.

Barrel, floating chamber and milled ejector.  On the early barrels they peened a short piece of piano wire to the barrel and cut a groove into the ejector to retain the ejector in place.
