Early Colt 1908 Vest Pocket .25 - While the finish of this gun is not much to look at, it is important to collectors in that it is the very first Colt Model N pistol shipped with Type I non-medallion factory ivory grips. Aside from lacking factory medallions, these grips are different than the later type factory grips in the way they are fitted to the gun. Instead of having thin spacers fastened to the back of each grip (which was the practice used by Colt on most special order grips made of ivory and mother of pearl), this pistol has two sets of two small screws tapped into the frame under each grip. Each grip has two recesses in the back of each grip to receive the head of the screws. Colt factory letter confirms blue finish and ivory grips. This pistol was shipped on April 8, 1909 in a three gun shipment to Frederick Peters with locations in Hamburg, Germany, New York, NY and Turkey.
