Colt 1908 Vest Pocket .25 ACP serial number 300387 - Colt historical records indicate that just one 1908 Vest Pocket .25 ACP was manufactured at the factory with a color case hardened finish. The original, serial number 273157 was a blue finish gun that was color case hardened at Colt's and made from condemned parts, presumably as a sample to test the finish. The colt historical letter confirms that this Colt was shipped with a blue finish to Chas. Williams Stores, Jay Street, Brooklyn, New York on September 24, 1921 in a 10 gun shipment.
While the example pictured here is not that gun, someone went to much trouble to create a fully color case hardened Colt 1908 Vest Pocket .25 and it's what I suspect the original looked like when it was manufactured. The stocks complement the finish and are aftermarket made of stag. The pistol sits on a brown Audley Safety Holster and is pictured with a factory Colt presentation case and a period box of Remington ammunition.
